Getting Over the Fear: Conference Workshops
The Getting Over the Fear project is pleased to announce that four skills workshops are now open for registration.
Each workshop focuses on a different aspect of the academic conference experience based on the results of the student survey circulated earlier this year. All workshops are open to all postgraduate students in the LLC School. You can sign up for workshops via the links below, or using Events Booking on MyEd (follow the links before each workshop description).

Workshop 1: Writing abstracts and the call for papers
Wednesday 12th March, 1-2.30pm, S1, 7 George Square. Sign up now Are you overwhelmed by finding relevant conferences and research events? Thinking of proposing a paper but not sure where to start? This workshop will equip you with tools to locate the key events in your field and guide you through the process of submitting an abstract. There will be an opportunity to work through sample calls for papers; participants are strongly encouraged to bring along any specific conference calls for papers for which they are considering submitting an abstract. ![]()

Workshop 2: Conference funding: where to find it and how to get it
Wednesday 26th March, 2-3.30pm, Faculty Room South, David Hume Tower. Sign up now Gaining funding to attend or to put on a conference is an important part of the process. This workshop will introduce you to sources of funding, guide you through the process of applying and share successful examples of funding applications. ![]()
